Does the craving for sweets turn into an addiction?

      and interferes with life?

First of all, you need to find the reason for this passion!

      Harmful microflora

The intestines are home to many bacteria. They thrive and reproduce on sugars from refined foods. With dysbiosis, the pathogenic flora craves sweets, affecting the nervous and hormonal systems. You may experience this as a strong, addictive craving for sweets.

      High insulin

This hormone's job is to transport sugar from the blood into cells and create glucose reserves. If insulin levels are high, it will quickly process all the glucose and ask for more, as there will be a lot of insulin left in the blood.
A common cause of this increase is insulin resistance. Cells become less sensitive to insulin, requiring more to process the same amount of glucose. This causes the hormone to be produced in excess.

      Lack of proteins and fats

The daily protein requirement is 1.5 g per 1 kg of body weight. Fat is 1 g per 1 kg of body weight. The desire to eat sweets arises when the body lacks the necessary amounts of these nutrients and the energy contained in these foods.
⠀⠀Start monitoring your diet and you'll notice you crave sweets less.⠀

Decreased levels of T4 and T3

Energy deficiency can occur due to decreased levels of thyroid hormones: T4 and T3. If the thyroid gland is not functioning properly, the cells require additional nutrition, which is most easily obtained from fast carbohydrates.

      Anemia

A deficiency of iron, hemoglobin, and/or B vitamins causes oxygen deprivation in cells. This condition is characterized by increased fatigue and drowsiness.

      Thirst

Sometimes cravings for sweets, and food in general, are a sign that your body isn't getting enough water. Drink a glass of water right now.

      Emotional hunger

⠀⠀A person eats away emotions (anxiety, tension, stress), finding solace in sweets, which only temporarily lift the mood and increase the level of endorphins.

In this case you need to:

      • work with a psychologist,
      • find and eliminate the causes of emotional swings,
      • Find environmentally friendly ways to increase the happiness hormone, serotonin.
